The 7-year-old found the old note in the sea and now it could sell for more than $500 – getting him closer to his dream of owning a two-stroke motorbike.
Zayne Hinton was swimming in the sea when he saw something orange floating in the water. The 7-year-old made a grab for it and found himself clutching an old $5 note.
He didnt know it at the time, but that $5 note would soon attract bids for more than 100 times its face value on auction website Trade Me and take him closer to his dream of owning a two-stroke motorbike.
On Thursday evening, the mildewed $5 note had attracted a bid of $530 with another day left on the auction.
