Christmas closures will see 70 jobs lost at Christchurch factory –

Staff have worked at Deane Apparel for 15 years on average, with two boasting more than 40 years of service. They will be jobless on December 23.

About 70 jobs will be lost after New Zealand clothing manufacturer Deane Apparel confirmed it is to close its Christchurch factory just before Christmas.
However, a local entrepreneur believes he can absorb in the jobs into his clothing firm, but needs New Zealands biggest companies and the Government to support Kiwi manufacturing.
The predominantly female workforce at Deane was told on Wednesday they will be jobless from December 23.
The family business was founded in 1932 and has sites in Christchurch…
