Police say it is deeply regrettable and have apologised after a mans body was visible from a public footpath next to a park, for multiple hours during an investigation.
The deceased man was found by a member of the public near Porirua stream, in Grasslees Reserve, Tawa, north of Wellington, about 6.30am on Wednesday.
The death is not being treating as suspicious and has been referred to the coroner, police said on Thursday.
