An Auckland mother caring full-time for her disabled child says she was told by a real estate agent to identify as a divorcee to help her chances of finding somewhere to rent.
Christa Ah Kiau said the West Auckland realtor advised her that describing herself as a single mother could look like youre just someone who got pregnant and then went on the benefit.
Ah Kiau said prejudice against her family situation and her sons disability had resulted in landlords disregarding her applications.
